Brief History
During the ROPME - IHO Workshop concerning the hydrographic activities of the ROPME and Red Sea regions held in Kuwait on 24-27 October 1999, the idea of forming a Regional Hydrographic Commission was raised. The ROPME Sea Area Hydrographic Commission (RSAHC) was subsequently established in Tehran, Islamic Republic (I.R.) of Iran, on 7-10 October 2000 at the offices of the Port and Shipping Organization of the I.R. of Iran, under the initiative of the I.R. of Iran, Sultanate of Oman, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates with Observers from the IHB, United Kingdom, Canada, Pakistan, Republic of Yemen and MENAS. The first Chairman was Mr. M R Ghaderi, Director General of Maritime Affairs at the Port and Shipping Organization of the I.R. of Iran. Main activities include the progress in developing the INT chart scheme, MSI, inter-state co-operation and a number of other regional issues in the capacity building area, including an International Hydrographic Symposium and a MSI course.

Brève histoire
C´est lors de l´atelier CHZMR - OHI qui fut tenu sur les activités hydrographiques de la ROPME et des régions de la mer Rouge, du 24 au 27 octobre 1999, au Koweït, que l´idée de former une commission hydrographique régionale est née. La commission hydrographique de la zone maritime ROPME (CHZMR) fut par la suite établie à Téhéran, RI d´Iran, du 7 au 10 octobre 2000, à l´Organisation portuaire et maritime, à l´initiative de la RI d´Iran, du Sultanat d´Oman, du Royaume de Bahreïn, du Royaume d´Arabie saoudite, du Koweït, du Qatar et des Emirats arabes unis, en présence d´observateurs du BHI, du Royaume-Uni, du Canada, du Pakistan, de la République du Yémen et de MENAS. Son premier président fut M. M R Ghaderi, directeur général des affaires maritimes auprès de l´Organisation portuaire et maritime de la RI d´Iran. Les principales activités incluent la progression du développement du plan de cartes INT, les RSM, la coopération entre Etats et un certain nombre d´autres questions régionales dans le domaine du renforcement des capacités, y compris un symposium hydrographique international et un cours RSM.
