Objectives:
The NCWG, and the publications for which it is responsible, provides a core of expertise on the basic concepts of charting. Whatever physical form the chart or publications may take, the fundamental concepts and elements of marine cartography remain the same. See the NCWG Terms of Reference for further information. |

Members:
The NCWG comprises representatives of IHO Member States' Hydrographic Offices, Expert Contributors and Observers from International Organizations. The Chair monitors membership to ensure that each IHO Regional Hydrographic Commission is invited to be represented. See the list of NCWG members.

Meetings:
NCWG conducts its business mainly by correspondence but holds meetings at least every two years. See also NCWG Detailed Procedures and note that Proposals to be submitted to NCWG meetings should be made using the "Recommended Format for Submission of Proposals to NCWG".

Réunions :
Le NCWG conduit ses travaux essentiellement par correspondance, mais organise des réunions au moins tous les deux ans. Voir aussi les procédures détaillées du NCWG et noter que les propositions soumises aux réunions du NCWG devraient respecter le "format recommandé pour les propositions au NCWG".

Tasks:
NCWG has been tasked by HSSC to:
- Revise, develop and maintain IHO Publication S-4 "Chart Specifications and Regulations for INT Charts";
- Revise, develop and maintain Part A of IHO Publication S-11 Guidance for the Preparation and Maintenance of International Chart Schemes";
- Maintain INT1, INT2 and INT3 (with national Hydrographic Offices' assistance);
- Develop new symbology.

Tâches :
Le NCWG a été chargé par le HSSC de:
- Réviser, développer et tenir à jour la Publication S-4 de l'OHI "Règlement de l'OHI pour les cartes internationales et Spécifications de l'OHI pour les cartes marines";
- Réviser, développer et tenir à jour la Partie A de la Publication S-11 de l'OHI "Directives pour la préparation et la tenue à jour des plans de cartographie INT"
- Tenir à jour les INT1, INT2 et INT3 (avec l'appui des Services hydrographiques nationaux);
- Elaborer une nouvelle symbologie.
